Best Breweries Intro

There is nothing better than a cool, refreshing beer after a long day behind your camera, photographing in the mountains. We have yet to meet a photographer out there who doesn’t, well, ummm, drink good beer. You may have noticed if read our post on the Best Restaurants and Best Coffee Houses here in Jackson, Wyoming that we are a bit critical of what crosses our palette. And beer is no exception! Although grabbing a beer at any of our favorite breweries in the Jackson vicinity will satisfy most, there are two places that have truly captured our attention: Melvin Brewing (you’ll find it inside the Thai Me Up Restaurant) and Q Roadhouse. Both serve up fantastic food along with award wining brews. However, all of these best breweries in Jackson, Wyoming have won loads of awards.

Melvin Brewing

75 E. Paarl Street

Jackson, Wyoming 83001

1 (307) 733-0005
Melvin produces some of the best beer ever! They are looking for their customers to walk out with a bit of a swagger in their step. Many of the beers they offer on tap have the Imperial label attached. Some of our personal favorites include the 2 X 4 Imperial DIPA, the 4 X 4 Imperial DIPA, and our personal favorite – Charlie Murphy Porter on a Nitro tap!

Another cool thing at Melvin is their complete beer list. They offer beers from other breweries on tap like Oskar Blues and other regional favorites.

Don’t forget – they are located inside of Thai Me Up, so grab some Thai will sampling many of their fine beers.

Q Roadhouse

2550 Moose Wilson Road

Wilson, Wyoming 83014

1 (307) 739-0700

The “Q” as it is known by the locals began as a BBQ joint, and then evolved into a semi-fine dining brew pub with a somewhat eclectic menu. Their beer list follows suit as well. The Brain Dead American Imperial IPA and Dreaded Beast Nitro Stout are worth the visit alone.

When the weather permits, sit outside and grab a serving of fried pickles and let the kids run and play in their confined lawn area. Every parent should know about it; its the best and most reasonably priced baby sitter you can buy. Trust us!

Wildlife Brewing

145 Main Street

Victor, Idaho 83455

1 (208) 787-2623
An award winning chef and award winning beer top this little brewpub on the west side of Teton Pass. While Jackson is swamped with tourists you can escape over to the town of Victor in about a 45 minute drive. Wildlife Brewing has the best pizza on the west side of the Tetons and their micro brews hit the spot too. Don’t miss their 10th Anniversary IPA.

We stop at Wildlife when photographing the farm fields and barns near Driggs, Idaho – they remind us of the Palouse of Washington State.

Grand Teton Brewing Company

430 Old Jackson Highway

Victor, Idaho 83445

1 (888) 899-1656

What Grand Teton Brewing lacks in food, it more than makes up for with its great tasting room, where you can bring your own food and then partake in some awesome libations. Grand Teton bottles their own beers and homemade sodas to cater to the whole family. You can also request a private tour of the brewing facilities! Additionally, you can find their beer and sodas at all the grocers in Jackson, so if your trip doesn’t allow for a jaunt over the Teton Pass and into Idaho, grab some to bring with you while you’re out in the field photographing. Oh, and get some extra to bring home with you too! We recommend finding their Black Cauldron Imperial Stout.

Snake River Brewing

265 S. Millward Street

Jackson  WY  83001

1 (307) 739-2337

If the best breweries in the Jackson area had a father, Snake River Brewing would be “The One”. They are the original micro-brewery that isn’t so micro any more. You can find their beer at almost every local event, in every grocery store, and even in most local convenience stores. They brew up a classic line of beers across the board. They don’t push a lot of imperials out to the market, but they do offer Pako’s IPA, a tried and true classic. Additionally, they offer something on a cask-conditioned tap, usually a stout, and you can’t go wrong when beer comes through a cask.

Their menu sources primarily ingredients that are locally sourced, as well as most items being created in house from scratch. One of our favorites is their Chorizo Peach Pizza.
